With its message of community and optimism, “The SpongeBob Musical” will conclude a highly inventive season that celebrates contemporary theatre and dance. A reimagined Greek tragedy and a Restoration comedy are also highlights of KU Theatre & Dance's season.
The Department of Theatre & Dance's creative, public-facing work and scholarship culminated in an awards ceremony earlier this month where 30 Jayhawks received departmental honors, including students from the Lawrence, Topeka, Overland Park, Shawnee, Wichita and Kansas City areas.
Fifty-two University of Kansas Theatre & Dance students, including 34 Kansans, were honored for academic merit and potential for the 2026-27 academic year. Jayhawks were awarded approximately $210,00 in scholarships.
