Production to be cast:

H.M.S. Pinafore
by W.S. Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan
Directed by John Stephens
April 29, May 1*, 3, 5, 2022

Theatre & Dance students are invited to audition for singing roles in H.M.S Pinafore, a co-production of the University Theatre and KU Opera. In particular, they are interested in finding a strong actor to portray Sir Joseph Porter. A sign-up sheet will go up about a week before the auditions outside of Professor John Stephen’s office (MUR 306). Invited call backs will be held Saturday, November 6, and those students will be invited via email.

What to prepare:

  • Those only interested in the chorus should prepare an art song, classical/legit Broadway, or an aria.
  • Those interested in a lead role, should in addition prepare a brief monologue; something British is preferred i.e., Oscar Wilde, Noel Coward, Shakespeare, Pinter, Stoppard, etc., however any monologue will suffice.
