Musings of Fire

adapted from the works of William Shakespeare

Recorded in the Crafton-Preyer Theatre with a limited in-person audience

February 19, 20, 21, 2021

Rise Up and Lay Down the Heavy Burden of Hate

The Bard’s words burn bright as they’re used, and sometimes recontextualized, in this dramatic, devised experience created under Covid-19 restrictions. Musings of Fire, conceived as a response to the social movements of our time, directs a siren song inward – “knock, and ask your heart what it doth know” – while also exploring strife and harmony in our multi-faceted community. This world premiere, produced in partnership with Island Shakespeare Festival and featuring a mix of professional and student actors, will sound familiar for those with an ear for Shakespeare’s cannon and will resonate with anyone concerned about humanity, brutality, and culture.
