KU community mourns death of theatre & dance administrative associate Kim Bohmann
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas community is mourning the death of Kim Bohmann, an administrative associate for the Department of Theatre & Dance. Bohmann, 62, died June 3.
"I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Kim Bohmann, who was a welcoming presence for our students and who served the university for more than 20 years," said Chancellor Douglas A. Girod. "On behalf of the entire university, I express my heartfelt condolences to her family, her friends and her KU colleagues."
Bohmann began working for the university in 2001 at Watkins Health Services, where she served in administrative support roles. She joined theatre & dance in 2007 and worked as an administrative associate.
The department is remembering Bohmann for the support she provided to its nonprofit, Friends of the Theatre, and how many in the KU community remember and appreciated her.
Jim Dick, managing director of theatre & dance, said Bohmann was a wonderful colleague, dear friend and was particularly devoted to the well-being of the department’s students.
“I have received dozens of messages from former students sharing their memories of her and the love and support that she gave them,” Dick said. “Her office was a warm, safe space, and many called her their ‘KU Mom.’ She will be deeply missed by all of us.”
A celebration of life will be 3-7 p.m. June 10 at Clinton Lake Overlook Park at shelter No. 1.
